With promotion and/or a trailer for Aquaman 2 noticeably absent from San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the topic of what exactly Warner Bros is going to do about Amber Heard’s character, Mera, is once again being discussed across social media. The main question is: “Is Amber Heard being recast?” Here’s the need-to-know info.
Is Amber Heard being recast for Aquaman 2?
No, at the time of writing Amber Heard is still portraying Mera in Aquaman 2.
Aquaman 2 finished shooting ahead of the controversial Heard/Depp trial. Therefore, the level of controversy surrounding the Mera actress wasn’t quite as severe as it is now.
However, with many fans and anti-Heard protesters complaining about her presence in the movie, it’s still possible for WB to force changes. Therefore, it’s possible for Amber Heard to be replaced or her character be removed entirely.
If WB does confirm that Amber Heard is being replaced, it could result in the film being delayed. Again, nothing is known at this time, however.
Should Amber Heard be replaced, a fan-favorite for the role is Emilia Clarke, best known for her role in the TV series Game of Thrones as Daenerys Targaryen. Of course, it’s often not as easy as swapping in one well-known actress for another, what with time and money constraints often complicating things.
Fans will no doubt be waiting with bated breath for a definitive answer on whether or not Amber Heard is being removed or replaced in Aquaman 2. With the release date fast approaching, the clock is ticking for Warner Brothers to make a decision.
In other news, The Walking Dead movie has been canceled and replaced with a new limited series featuring Rick and Michonne. Dinkum, the recent Steam hit, will be coming to consoles after an early access period. All Pokemon Go players have been offered compensation after users were experiencing Facebook login issues.
